The Interior Ministry said Friday in a statement that the security forces spotted small gatherings of Muslim Brotherhood supporters in a limited number of governorates and arrested them accordingly.
"The police dealt immediately and directly with the demonstrators and was able to arrest 29 of them in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Suez, and Sharqiya," the statement said.
Security measures were tightened in squares and streets, according to the statement.
Since the Muslim Brotherhood was declared a terrorism organization by the interim government, security forces are now authorized to arrest any demonstrators who espouse Brotherhood beliefs.
