Interior minister presents plan to secure elections

Interior Minister Mansour al-Essawy met with his aides on Tuesday to discuss a plan to secure the first phase of the upcoming parliamentary elections, in collaboration with the armed forces.

Essawy gave instructions not to interfere in the electoral process in any way, but only secure the ballots from the outside, so that voters feel free to cast their votes.

He presented his plan to Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, president of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.

“We shall firmly confront any attempt to create chaos or break the law,” he warned.
