The ministry has arrested almost all suspects for alleged involvement in the recent Mansoura bombing attacks, according to Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim in a press conference on Tuesday.
Ibrahim estimated that 90 percent of suspects involved had been apprehend.
He also said that some crime rings are currenting under surveillance and a detailed account of the Mansoura crime will be announced to the public soon.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim said his ministry has imposed control on Al-Azhar University so that mid-year exams can continue safely.
“Some perpetrators accused of hampering exams were arrested,” the minister said. “Security is getting better and will improve even more after the referendum on the constitution.”
Government opponents have accused police of indiscriminate violence against Al-Azhar student protests, especially against female protesters.
