Interior minister criticizes security forces on Sharm El-Sheikh visit

Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim has criticized security forces during a surprise visit to Sharm El-Sheikh on Wednesday.

Ibrahim arrived at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport via presidential plane on Wednesday, part of a sudden visit to South Sinai announced just half an hour before the minister's arrival.

Ibrahim reportedly criticized security forces' performance of their duties while passing Dahab checkpoint close to the airport, according to a security source.

The minister, accompanied by Tourism Minister Hesham Zaazou, visited injured policemen at a police hospital in Sharm El-Sheikh. They also inspected security checkpoints in the area.

Both ministers are expected to hold a conference in the Nabaq tourist resort, where they will meet with tourists to reassure them about Egypt's security situation.
