Parliamentary Ali Abdelaal said he received a phone call from the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, during which they discussed the return of Egypt to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The two officials discussed dispatching Ambassador Omar Mokhtar, a senior adviser to the union in Cairo on Saturday to complete the procedures for the return of Egypt to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Abdelaal added in a statement on Thursday that he is currently preparing for the official visit of the President of the Union Saber Chowdhury in the coming weeks to congratulate the new parliament and to revise the results of the technical cooperation program signed by the Egyptian government in March 2014 with the union to develop the mechanisms and tools of parliamentary work.
