Initiative to detect breast cancer launched in governorates

The first phase of the presidential initiative “Egyptian Women are the Health of Egypt” to support women’s health and detect breast cancer and noncommunicable diseases was launched in nine governorates on Monday.

Qalyubiya Governor Alaa Abdel Halim Marzouk inaugurated the initiative during his visit to the health unit in Kafr al-Gamal in the presence of Hamdy al-Tabakh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health.

Marzouk said that the initiative includes full examination for all diseases that may affect women’s health, including malnutrition, problems of puberty and pregnancy and complications resulting from repeated pregnancy, in addition to the detection of breast cancer in its early stages.

The target of the campaign is 1.6 million women in Qalyubiya, said Tabakh, adding that 161 health units have been equipped in Qalyubiya in addition to three hospitals, namely Aboul Manja General Hospital and Nasser Central Hospital and Bahtim Central Hospital. He said 190 doctors were trained as part of preparations for the campaign.

Assiut Governor Gamal Nour Eddin witnessed the launch of the campaign at one of the campaign headquarters at al-Waleedeya Health Center in Assiut city accompanied by assistant secretary general of the governor Nabil al-Tiby and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Mohamed Zein Eddin Hafez. They attended an educational seminar and listened to a group of women who expressed their happiness regarding the initiative, which provides services to all free of charge.
