Four Eritreans and an Egyptian were wounded on Wednesday after being shot while attempting to illegally cross from Sudan into Egypt.
A military source said border guards spotted the group while trying to infiltrate the border and warned them not to proceed. The source said they tried to escape, which prompted the guards to shoot.
The wounded were transferred to Assiut Hospital.
