After the image of an incomplete inaugural banner for a project at Sohag University sparked sarcastic remarks and went viral on social networking sites, the university's administration removed it on Monday.
The banner included the names of the president of the republic, the president of Sohag University, the vice president of the university, and the dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education, but did not mention which project was being implemented.
The printed banner read: "Under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, professor Nabil Nour Eddin, president of the university, professor Safa Mahmoud, deputy president of the university, professor Sabah Saber, dean of the Industrial Education Faculty." The banner did not mention further details about the inaugurated project or the achievements that have been made, prompting ridicule on social networking sites.
"Under all these names nothing happened," a user commented .
Reem Salah commented saying: "The banner has been accomplished, isn't this an achievement?"
Mohamed Abdel Razeq said: "It doesn't matter what happened, what is important is that all their names are written."
Nour Eddin commented on the incident saying he was notified that the photo for the banner went viral on social networking websites, adding that the university administration had not hung the banner and does not know who put it up. Nour Eddin ordered the banner removed and an investigation into the incident.
