Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with bank and education officials in two separate meetings on Saturday, in which he ordered the continuation of bank initiatives to maintain stability amid the coronavirus pandemic, and discussed the future of education.
First, Sisi met with Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Tarek Amer and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, wherein he stressed the need for coordination between the two state bodies, especially in terms of minimizing the economic repercussions Egypt faces from the pandemic.
Sisi’s official spokesman Bassam Rady said that the meeting previewed CBE’s efforts for maintaining monetary and banking stability through the pandemic.
Amer presented the bank’s initiatives to support the various sectors of the Egyptian economy, with the aim of helping companies in different sectors overcome difficult conditions and maintain their financial solvency and employment.
The same day, the president met with education officials to discuss the latest developments in projects from Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education to establish more public, private, and technological universities, as well as centers and research institutes.
Sisi directed that curriculum in new universities should focus on modern sciences and advanced scientific disciplines that will bring confident, qualified young graduates to Egypt’s job market.
Finally, he stressed the necessity of these colleges and university to provide scholarship programs for those who excel in their studies.
