Mimicking international brands and registered trademarks without the permission of their owners is banned (haraam) by the rules of Islam, Dar Al-Iftaa said in a statement.
The statement stressed that intellectual property as well as literary and artistic copyrights, patents, and trademarks belong to their owners in accordance with Islamic Law.
Any profit resulting from the use of these trademarks without permission from their owners is considered theft, according to the statement.
According to Dar al-Iftaa, brand owners have the right to resort to the judiciary.
