Illicit Gains Authority orders arrest of Sorour

The head of the Illicit Gains Authority, Yehya Galal, has ordered the arrest of Fathi Sorour, the last Speaker of the People's Assembly under former President Hosni Mubarak, for not attending a session scheduled Sunday to verify financial disclosures.

The authority had summoned Sorour for a hearing on Thursday, after he was acquitted of charges tied to the attack on protesters in February 2011, known in the media as the Battle of the Camel.

His lawyers had asked to postpone the interrogation for health conditions. The authority then scheduled another session on Sunday, in which Sorour failed to appear.

The exact details of the accusations facing Sorour is still unknown.
