Bomb disposal experts of Cairo Civil Protection forces defused an improvised explosive device in the Marg area of Cairo.
It was reported to the police that a police sergeant found an unknown object at his home, and took it to al-Eshrin level crossing in Marg.
The device was found to be a small-sized plastic package containing half a kilogram of nails, topped with a smaller package containing an explosive material and a mobile phone. It was defused using a water cannon.
Further investigations are ongoing.
Bomb scares have increased in Cairo since the recent Mansoura bombing, which killed 16 and injured over a hundred.
