Hurghada seaport closed due to poor weather conditions

The Red Sea governorate declared that poor weather conditions have been forecast in the province from Sunday and will continue for two days.

The wind will whip up sand and dust, which will reduce visibility to less than 500 meters.

Major General Ahmed Abdullah, Red Sea governor, urged citizens and drivers to be cautious on the roads.

Malak Youssef, spokesperson for the Red Sea Ports Authority, said the closure of Hurghada seaport was due to the poor weather conditions and the high northwestern wind speeds, which reached 22 knots, as well as 2-3 meter high waves in the sea. All maritime activities have been suspended.

Major General Hesham abu Senna, head of the authority, issued strict measures to the heads of seaports on taking precautionary measures, following up with the Egyptian Meteorological Authority and suspending maritime activities.
