Hurghada International Airport received 25,200 European tourists on 140 flights during the past 48 hours, as well as 3,600 Egyptian passengers onboard 20 domestic flights.
International flights have significantly risen over the past two days with the approaching New Year holiday, according to airport director Samy Abdel-Moneim.
Russia still tops the list of countries sending tourists to Hurgada–the airport received more than 50 flights from Russian airports, followed by flights from Germany.
Security agencies tightened procedures to secure the airport and to reassure visitors of their safety.
