Nine Egyptian governorates have entered their second day of voting for the People's Assembly elections, which started Monday morning.
Hundreds of voters lined up outside polling stations at the governorates voting in the first stage: Cairo, Assiut, Fayoum, Kafr al-Sheikh, Damietta, Port Said, Alexandria, Red Sea and Luxor.
In Helwan, a suburb of Cairo, citizens arrived polling stations before they officially opened at 8 am. Some civilian groups organized men and women into queues outside Al-Maasara primary school's voting station. Army personnel prepared seats for elderly voters, who turned out in remarkable numbers on the first day of voting.
Some polling stations have yet to open, provoking concerns of a repeat of Monday's delays.
Army and police forces have been redeployed outside polling stations in preparation for Tuesday's voting.
