Houthi rebels consider withdrawal from Sanaa

Houthi rebels discussed Wednesday withdrawal from Sanaa, Yemeni informed sources told the London-based newspaper Asharq al-Awsat Thursday.

The newspaper quoted informed sources Thursday as saying that the pro-Houthi Interior Minister Galal al-Roweishan held a meeting with the Houthi Revolutionary Council to discuss withdrawal from Sanaa and to hand it over to the Yemeni government.

In a new development that shows the extent of disagreement between Houthis and its ally, former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the pro-Saleh governor of al-Hudaydah, Ahmed Hassan Alheij, called for the need to evacuate armed rebels from the Port of Hudaydah and release detainees arrested by the group, Asharq al-Awsat said.
