Heatwave to hit Egypt over weekend

Weather temperatures are likely to climb across Egypt on Friday and Saturday, ranging between three to five degrees higher than the usual Summer climate rates, according to Chairman of the General Meteorological Authority Ahmed Abdelaal.

Abdelaal forecasts maximum temperatures between 38C and 40C in Cairo, 32C and 34C along the northern coasts and between 43C and 45C in Upper Egypt.

This will be accompanied by a rise in mist up to 95 percent along the North Coast, Lower Egypt and canal cities.

People are to avoid the sun as best they can during the afternoon, and stay hydrated, Abdelaal advises.
Those with respiratory diseases, children and the elderly should avoid poorly-ventilated areas.
