The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned of a heat wave expected to hit the country from Friday until Sunday, with temperatures reaching record highs across the nation for this time of the year.
Temperatures in Greater Cairo are expected to exceed 31C during the day, while the governorates of Upper Egypt will reach 34C.
Meteorologists attribute the change in weather conditions to the influence of a hot air mass.
The weather will be hot during the day and remain cool at night.
The EMA advised wearing clothing appropriate for this time of year and avoiding heavy winter clothing to prevent overheating and catching a cold.
Weather maps warned of fog forming on Wednesday morning across northern Egypt, extending to Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, and central Sinai. The fog may be dense at times on some roads.
Winds are expected to pick up in some areas, particularly open areas.
Expected temperatures for Wednesday:
- Matrouh: 24C
- Cairo, Alexandria and Hurghada: 28C
- Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan: 29C
