Egypt was hit with a fresh heat wave on Sunday, causing temperatures to exceed the average for the period by five degrees centigrade.
Officials from Egypt's Weather Forecast Authority (WFA) expect the heat wave to continue until the end of the week, warning people not to expose themselves directly to the sun at mid-day.
WFA officials also called on the public to drive slowly on the nation's highways due to expected fog.
Temperatures on Sunday reached 39 degrees centigrade in Cairo, 33 degrees in Alexandria and 43 degrees in Upper Egypt.
