The Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt received 49,886,515 visits from women as part of the Egyptian Women’s Health Initiative to support women’s health since its launch in July 2019 until the end of May 2024 to provide examination and awareness services.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, explained that the total number of visits is divided into 21,783,413 first-time visits, 16,881,861 periodic visits, and 11,221,648 occasional visits.
Abdel-Ghaffar urged women to periodically check on their health through the services provided through the initiative.
The early diagnosis and detection of breast tumors contribute to reducing the burden on the patient and the state through treatment protocols offered by the initiative for free, he explained, in accordance with the latest international standards.
Abdel-Ghaffar said that 637,474 women visited hospitals to undergo advanced examinations as part of the initiative.
The initiative provides free services to examine women through 3,663 health units across Egypt, in addition to the participation of 102 hospitals to provide medical services to women whose condition requires an advanced examination, he said.
Abdel-Ghaffar added that inquiries continue are received through the hotline of the “100 Million Health” initiative at 15335.
The initiative’s services include presenting and discussing 41,629 cases through the multidisciplinary MDT committee in the field of oncology, in order to make a unified treatment decision, he further explained.
