Egypt’s Health Ministry announced a comprehensive plan to ensure medical services during the Eid al-Adha holiday, expected to take place on Friday.
A statement for the ministry said that 2,994 ambulances to will be deployed to public gatherings, parks, gardens, mosques and prayer locations in all governorates around Egypt. In addition to ten ambulance boats for emergency services in the River Nile, two air ambulances will fly over highways and major traffic hubs.
Acting Head of the Egyptian Ambulance Organization (EAO), Amr al-Rashid, explained that the medical plan during Eid days includes raising the readiness of all ambulance facilities and coordination between EAO and the therapeutic and urgent care sector at the ministry as well as make rapid medical intervention centers, for quick responses to any event.
Advisor to the minister for Critical and Emergency Care, Sherif Wade’a, said there is coordination between teaching hospitals and the Emergency Services Center (137) to receive and transfer emergency cases. The hospitals were provided with medicine, supplies, equipment and blood bags.
The spokesperson for the Health Ministry, Khaled Megahed, pointed out that the plan included coordination with centers for toxins in the governorates, raising the degree of readiness and providing medicines and supplies.
Megahed added that there is coordination with all departments of health directorates in all governorates to increase the rapid deployment teams, and tighten control on the outlets for the sale of frozen and processed meat, butcher shops, and to ensure its commitment to Health Ministry measures, and meat display in a healthy manner, ensuring the transfer of meat in sterilized vehicles.
