Deputy Health Minister in Aswan Mohamed Azmy vowed to eradicate malaria in the province by 20 June.
“There is no falciparum malaria among Aswan patients as rumored by the media,” Azmy told the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
He also added that the case that media said was infected with falciparum malaria was an elderly woman and is expected to leave Edfu Hospital on Saturday.
"Fifteen cases have totally recovered and left hospitals," Azmy said. "Five other cases remain hospitalized, two of them will leave in the coming few days."
"By 20 June, the disease will be eradicated in Aswan," he added. “We will hold a news conference to declare it.”
