Scores of Egyptian Health Ministry employees on Tuesday staged protests to demand that newly-appointed Health Minister Ahmed Sameh Farid dismiss the advisers associated with sacked minister Hatem al-Gabaly.
Workers demanded the dismissal of advisers Nasser Rasmy, Saeed Rateb, Mohamed Mostafa, Hassan al-Masry and Seham Sadeq. They claimed that each of the men received a monthly salary of LE40,000, while longstanding ministry employees received only LE120 a month.
Protesters also called for promoting the ministry's younger cadres and for drawing up a committee to address their grievances.
Farid met with the protesters and promised to meet their demands immediately.
