Health Ministry: Death toll of swine flu reaches 52

Death toll of the swine flu virus, known as H1N1, has reached 52 since December, out of 424 cases of infection, Health Ministry announced.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said four patients have died from swine flu over the past four days from Tuesday until Friday. The number of cases that were confirmed to have been infected with the virus reached 182 cases. Total number of cases that were kept at hospitals for suspicions of being infected with the virus were 873 cases.

The virus, according to the statement, represents 80 percent of the infection in the US, Europe and China and 79 percent in Egypt starting December.

The statement blamed the spread of the virus on winter, when diseases are transmitted, saying it joined other kinds of seasonal influenza and will continue to spread at low rates.

The ministry warned against infection among pregnant women, elderly above 65 years old, children younger than two years old and patients who suffer respiratory diseases, circulatory system diseases, obesity and hyperglycemia. It urged medical examination once the symptoms of high temperature, sore throat or cough are experience.
