Health Ministry: 590 injured in Tahrir and Balloon Theater clashes

Egypt's Health Ministry on Wednesday said fighting between security forces and protesters in Tahrir Square and at Balloon Theater in Agouza left 590 injured, 75 of whom were transferred to hospitals, while medics treated others at makeshift clinics or on the streets.

In a statement, Deputy Health Minister Adel al-Adawy said the injured were taken to nine hospitals: 33 to Mounira hospital, 23 to the Red Crescent, seven to Demerdash, four each to Ahmed Maher in Sayyeda Zeinab and Qasr al-Aini University Hospital, and one each to Qasr al-Aini French, Agouza, Masheyyet al-Bakry and the Nasser Institute hospitals.
 
Of those injured, 33 are still receiving treatment in the hospitals.
 
Adawy said about 23 well-equipped ambulances are stationed in Tahrir Square and neighboring areas to treat the injured or transfer them to hospitals if necessary.
