Health Minister Adel Adawy said the ministry has taken all measures to curb and control the spread of malaria in the village of Adwa in Edfu, Aswan.
He also said that the ministry is coordinating with the World Health Organization to supply the village with reagents to quickly detect the disease and with more stocks of medicaments.
Visiting the infected in the Edfu Fever Hospital on Sunday, the minister said there are 13 cases, of which two have improved and were released from the hospital.
He also said a team from the Preventive Medicine Department took blood samples from 561 villagers and collected mosquito larvae to examine. “All hospitals in Aswan are on alert,” he said. “And we opened a lab for blood tests and another for insect examination in Edfu.”
The minister conducted a field visit to inspect the filling of ponds in the village to prevent the spread of the disease.
