Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar asserted the importance of cooperating with South Africa in the field of pharmaceutical manufacture and vaccines.
Abdel Ghaffar said Egypt is enjoying giant capabilities in the domain of pharmaceutical industry and the country is considered as the largest producer of medications in Africa and the Middle East region.
The minister’s remarks came at a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to South Africa Ahmed Sherif in the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on Wednesday 18/9/2024.
The meeting tackled ways of future cooperation in the health sector between the two countries.
Spokesperson for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the minister congratulated the diplomat on assuming his post and stressed Egypt’s greater interest in cooperating with South Africa in the health sector and boosting chances for trade exchange and investments.
Both sides tackled ways of cooperation to implement joint training programs for medical crew.
The health minister invited his counterpart in South Africa to attend the Global Congress on Population, Health and Development, slated for October.
