US Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump should be legally punished for proposing that Muslims be banned from entering the United States, said Nobel laureate Mohamed ElBaradei.
“Trump's speech is fighting words that inflict injury and promote violence. They should be condemned by all and punishable by law,” the former Egyptian vice president and former International Atomic Energy Agency director said on Twitter late Tuesday.
Trump’s call, which has drawn crticism from many, including the White House, was made as a suggestion to prevent further terrorist attacks following a shooting last week in Saint Bernardino, California that killed 14 people. The Federal Bureau of Investigation said the Muslim shooters had been “radicalized”.
