Egyptian authorities have controlled a sectarian clash that began Thursday night and continued until dawn Friday in Qolosna village in Minya Governorate.
Eyewitnesses said fighting broke out after a number of Muslim taxi drivers harassed a group of Christian girls, prompting their relatives to fight the drivers with various hand weapons.
Shots were fired in the air to disperse them and the injured – four Christians and three Muslims, according to security sources – were taken to Samalout Public Hospital in ambulances.
Security sources said 10 people were arrested and are being investigated.
Eyewitnesses said the military had imposed a curfew starting after Friday afternoon prayers.
Qolosna is nearly 250km south of Cairo.
