The Palestinian cause is vital for the Arab nations and Egypt is at the core of the issue, said prime minister of the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh on Thursday when crossing the Rafah border into Egypt with a delegation from Palestine.
Haniyeh will meet today with President Mohamed Morsy in Cairo.
The Hamas leader added that he offers Egyptians Ramadan greetings, as well as success in democracy and the revolution.
In addition to meeting with Morsy, Haniyeh plans to talk with several Egyptian officials regarding regional developments, including Israeli actions in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza.
In response to rumors in foreign and Israeli media that Sinai is under Hamas control, Haniyeh said, “Sinai was and will remain an Egyptian land under [the] protection of Egypt.”
