Hamas demands Fatah to halt accusation of supporting MB

A leading member of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas condemned statements made by leaders of the Palestinian liberation movement Fatah accusing Hamas of meddling in Egyptian affairs and supporting the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Hamas member, Moussa Abu Marzouk, asked Fatah members to cease such remarks, adding they do not serve the interest of the Palestinian people.

Abu Marzouk added in a press statement that Egypt is essential to the people of Gaza, as Egypt does not differentiate between Palestinians.

This was not the first time a Hamas leader accused Fatah of publicly smearing it. Back in July, Hamas accused the Fatah movement of inciting hatred towards it in the Egyptian media. “They want to tarnish our image and distort our relations with Egypt,” said Salah al-Bardawil, a leading Hamas figure in a press conference in Gaza.

Palestinian intelligence chief Maged Farag denied the accusations. “They are ridiculous allegations that do not merit a response,” he wrote. “The Egyptian media is not that naive.”
