A Muslim man was sentenced to death on Sunday for the drive-by church shooting that took place in the Upper Egyptian city of Naga Hammadi on 6 January 2010, judicial sources said.
Next month the Egyptian court will announce its verdict for the other two Muslim defendants accused in the Coptic Christmas Eve attack, which killed six Christian worshippers and a Muslim guard, the sources added.
Sunday's verdict comes two weeks after a suicide bomber targeted the Church of St. Mark and St. Peter in the port city of Alexandria, killing 23 and wounding nearly a 100.
