The Cairo Criminal Court on Tuesday postponed the trial of 17 leaders of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group to 16 August to hear the prosecution witnesses.
The defendants are charged with premeditated murder and of inciting the killing of peaceful demonstrators outside the group’s Guidance Bureau in Mokattam during the 30 June revolution.
Their lawyer, Mohamed al-Damaty, objected to the glass dock in which the defendants were placed and insisted on including his objection in the minutes of the meeting. “This cage separates the defendants from the defense and the panel,” he said.
He requested to hear the testimonies of the residents of the area and the forensic experts who examined the premises.
He also requested to exempt former Supreme Guide Mohamed Mahdi Akef from attending the sessions due to his health condition.
