Green turtle saved

After Al-Masry Al-Youm published a picture of a young man catching a female green turtle and putting it up for sale, Shehab Mohammed, an activist in environmental affairs who is interested in protecting endangered marine species, succeeded in persuading the young man to return the turtle to its natural habitat in the Red Sea.

Officials from the nature reserve said the turtle is 25 years old and weighs 45 kilograms, and that catching it incurs a fine of between LE5,000 and LE50,000.
