Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration ceremony to broadcast live exclusively on TikTok

The Grand Egyptian Museum Authority (GEM) announced on Facebook that the museum’s official opening ceremony will be broadcast live and exclusively on TikTok, a platform with approximately 1.59 billion users worldwide.

The authority explained that the ceremony will begin at 7:30 PM on Saturday, Cairo Time, November 1.

The Egyptian Cabinet approved several decisions during its meeting on Wednesday, including the issuance of non-circulating commemorative coins to mark the opening of the GEM.

These coins will be made of gold and silver and will be in denominations of one pound, five pounds, 10 pounds, 25 pounds, 50 pounds, and 100 pounds, in light of the upcoming opening ceremony.

The government confirmed that the official opening of the GEM will be on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in a massive, three-day global celebration, attended by a number of heads of state, ambassadors, and prominent international and public figures.

The official opening for public will begin on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, after the official opening ceremonies, which are limited to invitation-only high-level guests.
