MP Hamdin Sabbahy submitted an interpellation to Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, accusing the government of violating the Constitution for not carrying out an order by the Administrative Judicial Court to raise the minimum wage.
“The government is ignoring workers by refusing to raise the minimum wage in light of soaring commodity prices,” Sabbahy said.
“The permanent deficit in the state budget warrants raising the minimum wage by reducing the high salaries of government officials and increasing the low wages of workers,” he suggested.
