Govt mulls new airport security measures

Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry is thinking about establishing new airport security measures for the inspection of aircraft arriving from “unstable” destinations or countries known for employing substandard aircraft security procedures.

The move comes in the wake of reports this week that a cargo plane en route to the US and Europe from Yemen was found laden with explosive material.

The new security measures also follow the explosion of a parcel sent to the Mexican embassy in Greece, along with the alleged discovery of parcels containing explosive material sent to French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
