Govt continues to ban Tuk-Tuk imports

On Thursday, the Cabinet decided to continue a ban imposed on Tuk-Tuk imports and motorcycles, including spare parts, but allowed the import of tricycles.

The government also allowed the import of baby milk to be sold at primary health care centers and Health Ministry pharmacies, especially in the poor governorates.

The baby formula is subsidized by the government. For every pack that is sold for LE3, the cost on the state budget is LE27.

The cabinet agreed to continue subsidizing baby milk with LE530 million to cover the needs of 250,000 babies nationwide.

It also approved a draft resolution to amend the competition law and prevent monopolistic practices so as to ensure autonomy for the Consumer Protection Authority.
