On Thursday, the cabinet approved only three articles of the amendments to the medical profession law.
In response, the committee organizing the doctors’ strike accused Health Minister Adel Adawy of ignoring the rest of the articles that were agreed upon.
The committee also urged doctors to tender collective resignations.
Meanwhile. the Doctors Syndicate called for an emergency general assembly on Friday to discuss steps to escalate the matter, saying the amendments are unconstitutional.
The Dentists Syndicate is also holding a press conference on Saturday to respond to cabinet’s decisions.
Dr. Haitham Abdel Aziz, a member of the Pharmacists Syndicate, said the minister presented only three articles to the cabinet pertaining to per diems, sustainable development and emergency doctors’ incentives.
