Deputy Minister of Finance for Customs Affairs Magdy Abdel Aziz said on Tuesday that the government would exempt European cars from customs taxes starting January 2019, according to the Egyptian-European partnership agreement.
Abdel Aziz added that the Egyptian government and the European Union might suspend the decision in case that they agree on this.
Abdel Aziz clarified that the ministry would possibly negotiate with the European Union to postpone implementation of the partnership in view of the current political and economic conditions.
He mentioned that the importers would pay only the value-added tax (VAT) and resource development fees.
