Transportation Ministry is preparing to revive the Arbaeen road, or Darb al-Arbaeen, project in the Western Desert to serve trade between Egypt, Libya, Sudan and Chad.
The project is one of three projects that will link Egypt with the rest of Africa.
The road will be built following the historical camel trade route between Darfur in Sudan to Egypt.
In related news, Gamal Hegazy, chairman of the General Authority for Dry and Land Ports, said Arqin Port is scheduled to be opened in August, reaching an area of 130,000 square meters and serving the Cape Town-Alexandria corridor.
The land port is the second that links between Egypt and Sudan after opening of Qastal Port last August.
