The government has said it is raising an alert in all governorates to prepare for seasonal floods, noting it was overviewing sewage services preparedness and forming taskforces to handle emergencies.
The Local Development Ministry said Minister Adel Labib was coordinating with provincial authorities to deal with heavy rains and floods, especially in Upper Egypt and Sinai.
Labib said the ministry is following up on weather bulletins by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority in light of the currently unstable weather conditions.
Labib directed governors to intensify their field visits in areas where rain water is concentrated, to fix road defects that cause puddles and to secure a sufficient number of drainage vehicles.
