The Education Ministry has remodeled syllabuses for primary and elementary schools to teach the 25 January revolution, which ended the rule of former President Hosni Mubarak earlier this year, state TV has announced.
The history textbooks for sixth graders in their second term will contain a complete chapter about the 18-day uprising, said state TV, quoting an Education Ministry announcement.
An elaborate chapter on the revolution has also been added to the second term history textbook for ninth graders.
The ministry said the move came from its belief in the goals of the revolution.
The website quoted Ahmed Bahaa, who is in charge of textbooks at the Education Ministry, as saying that 1.6 million copies of the sixth grade textbooks and 1.4 million copies of the ninth grade textbooks have been printed.
The copies will be distributed to Education Ministry departments nationwide within 10 days, before the second school term ends.
