Gaza’s days of terror continue after Israel bombs school sheltering the displaced

Israel on Saturday bombed the al-Tabi’in School which houses displaced people in al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza Strip, killing 100 Palestinians and injuring dozens – most of whom were children, women and the elderly.

The massacre was widely condemned by Arab and international circles.

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said: “Another day of horror in Gaza, after the bombing of another school, and the killing of dozens of Palestinians, including women, children and the elderly.”

Hamas calls for UN to step in

The Deputy Chairman of the Hamas Movement, Khalil al-Hayya, called on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to stop these massacres and Zionist aggression.

He said: “The goal of the occupation authorities from their ongoing massacres is the forced displacement of the residents of the Strip and forcing them to leave (Gaza).”

He also called on Arab and Islamic countries to withdraw their ambassadors from Tel Aviv.

‘A cowardly act’

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, described the massacre as a “cowardly act.” The Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned the international community’s failure to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law and international humanitarian law.

Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb also condemned the brutal bombing, calling it a crime that all human languages are unable to fully express the sheer cruelty of.

“Al-Azhar calls on all free people of the world to continue to pressure this terrorist entity by all means to stop its crimes and the acts of genocide that it practices daily against the owners of the land in Palestine, and let everyone know that history will not have mercy on those who are complacent and silent about these heinous crimes,” he said.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, said that in the largest and most shameful detention camps of the 21st century, Israel is exterminating Palestinians with American and European weapons.
