Minya security forces arrested 10 suspected gang members Thursday after uncovering stolen artifacts in one suspect's house.
A Ministry of Interior statement said that a criminal investigation team located the group's meeting place after several reports were submitted to Minya prosecution.
According to the statement, the team recovered 27 artifacts in farmer Salem Othman's house. Ten suspected members of the gang were arrested in Minya and Beni Suef governorates and Gharbiya in the Delta, but Othman escaped.
The suspects were referred to the prosecution, which seized the relics and ordered a criminal investigation team to search for Othman. An antiquities committee will examine the items.
