Gamal Mubarak: NDP on the offensive

Daqahlia–Gamal Mubarak, the head of the National Democratic Party’s powerful Policies Secretariat and the son of President Hosni Mubarak, said in a meeting in Mansoura yesterday that his party is no longer “on the defensive.”

Mubarak said that opposition parties used to frame NDP candidates as unconcerned with the public’s good, but the party’s recent reform initiatives now make this impossible. Mubarak added that the NDP has undertaken internal reforms, as well.

“We are at the gates of a turbulent world and we should remind each other that our goal is achieving stability in order to accomplish development in all fields,” Mubarak said. “We should not drift with those bidding on our objectives whether at home or abroad.”

Mubarak said in the coming years the government will prioritize aiding poor families and improving their vocational skills in addition to looking after workers and opening new investment opportunities. He suggested that NDP members to turn to the street to promote the party’s political and economic achievements among the public.
