Fuel station explosion kills 8, injures 53 in Sohag

A huge explosion occurred Saturday evening in an unlicensed fuel store in Tahta, Sohag Governorate, leading to the death of eight people and the injury of 53, according to Sohag Ministry of Health Undersecretary Mohamed Abdel Aal. 
 
The explosion was allegedly caused by a fire in the fuel jerrycans and barrels. Abdel Aal said in a press statement that 21 injured people were transferred to Tahta General Hospital, 19 to Sohag General Hospital, five to the Sohag University hospital, five to Tama Central Hospital and three to al-Maragha Central Hospital. Five cases are in critical condition, he added.
