Frost to hit S. Sinai, Upper Egypt: Chief meteorologist

Frost is expected to appear in South Sinai and three Upper Egyptian provinces, with temperatures expected to decline even further, Egypt’s chief meteorologist has announced.

“The regions of Saint Catherine, and the provinces in the northern part of Upper Egypt, such as Minya, Assiut and Sohag, will all experience frost,” Ahmed Abdelaal, head of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, told satellite TV channel LTC on Saturday.

“Cairo had its lowest temperature of 9 degrees Celsius at 6:00 am this season,” Abdelaal said, adding that the winter season has officially started and temperatures will continue to drop. “Temperatures will be much lower than last year and there will also be more rain.”
