Egyptian athlete Ahmed El-Gendy made history on Saturday evening by securing Egypt’s first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, triumphing in the modern pentathlon.
El-Gendy dominated the competition, setting a new world record with a score of 1555 points.
Having topped his group and achieved a new Olympic record, El-Gendy advanced to the final and ultimately claimed the gold medal.

He quickly rose to prominence, winning gold at the Mediterranean Games and topping the world junior rankings.
His impressive performance continued with victories at the World Junior Championships in Portugal and the Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic.
In 2019, he reached the pinnacle of his career by securing a gold medal at the World Championship held in his home country, Egypt.
Tokyo 2020
In a historic achievement for Egypt, he claimed the silver medal in the modern pentathlon at the Tokyo Olympics.
With a score of 1482 points, he narrowly missed out on gold, finishing only five points behind the gold medalist, Britain’s Joseph Choong.
