French historian Jean-Pierre Filiu, a professor of Middle East studies at the Paris School of International Affairs, held on Sunday a conference at the French Cultural Central that tackled the history of secularism, Islam and nationalism in Egypt and the Arab world.
The event is part of a series of conferences organized by the French Institute, Centre d'Études et de Documentation Économiques, Juridiques et sociales (CEDEJ), Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement (IRD) and L’Institut Français d’Archéologie Orientale (IFAO).
Several intellectuals and political analysts from Egypt and France will take part in conferences that will be held on a monthly basis throughout 2016 to tackle political changes and challenges in Egypt and the Middle East.
